It remains the case: the Himalayas are up to 8848 meters high. At the same time, despite (or precisely because of) its high mountains, huge glaciers, massive rock formations and quaint forests, it exerts a great attraction on us and quite a few are drawn to Asia to the highest mountains in the world to hike, trek or climb mountains!
Tours, of course, also differ significantly in the Himalayas regarding its difficulty levels. For example, there are short and easy beginner tours that are no longer than five days long and do not exceed 4200 meters. Then, of course, we also have more challenging and longer trekking routes in our program. Here you can go over 5000 meters and if you want, you are exclusively in the mountains for up to three weeks! (All our trekking tours)
Last but not least, you can of course also climb mountains. For this purpose, we offer mountaineering expeditions on peaks between 5000 meters and 6500 meters, which again differ from their degree of difficulty.
The tours all have one thing in common: you should prepare for them. Of course, you should prepare more for a longer and difficult tour, but even smaller tours should not be taken lightly.
Of course, the preparation also includes packing: In the Himalayas there are large weather and temperature differences, the paths are usually hardly developed and the civilization can also be several days away. Of course, Chalo! Travels takes care of food, technical equipment, tents and sleeping bags. But your own clothes, good footwear and an emergency pharmacy should be taken care of.
Trekking shoes are a must, functional underwear, fleece sweaters or jackets, trekking pants and shirts, as well as thick jackets, rain protection, gloves, hats and sun protection should always be included!
In addition, there are medicines for pain, digestive problems, as well as material for the care of injuries.
Water bottles for replenishment, good hiking backpacks, sunglasses and sunscreen, as well as a camera are also useful.
In addition to the luggage, however, you should also prepare physically for your adventure in the Himalayas.
Endurance training is good, such as longer easy runs, bike tours or even swimming.
Climbing stairs also makes sense, especially as preparation for our summit tours, as well as stretching!
If you have planned a tour to higher regions (from 4000 meters onwards) and are not sure about your physical acclimatization skills, a hypoxia training can help already in your home country. In selected cities, a height of up to 4000 meters can be simulated in special training rooms, so that you can acclimatize step by step! Just see if this possibility is available near you.
Generally speaking, a long acclimatization phase is important. So if you are planning a challenging mountain tour with us, we should also plan a few days in higher areas in advance of the actual trek or expedition, just for acclimatization!
