Happy in Hampi!

Hampi

Hampi is the number 1 Travel destination according to the Lonelyplanet 2015 (a popular travel guide) and my very clear number 2 (my number 1 is and remains Manali, of course!)

Already the fourth time I am visiting this enchanting place and with every further visit I enjoy my stays more and more and tey become longer and longer!

Hampi’s beauty alone is worth a visit: palm trees, green paddy fields, temples, ruins and especially rocks as far as the eye can see. If you haven’t been to Hampi, you can’t believe that such a place exists at all!

It is very rural here and you get to know a lot of the traditional life of the Indian farmers. While I sit comfortably in a nice “Backpacker Cafe” and enjoy my burger, next to me the rice field is ploughed with an ox team and planted later! Geography class up close!!!

Hampi is a great place to relax: lots of cosy restaurants with great food, nice people, a lake nearby and beautiful sunsets!

If you like it actively, go fore bouldering here (climbing on rocks without safety rope). The millions of rocks make Hampi the largest and one of the most popular bouldering areas in the world and every year the best climbers come to Hampi to climb in the winter months. The early morning hours and the afternoon are particularly suitable for this. During the day it is too hot and you are better off resting, swimming in the lake or going on a bike ride! Pineapples, watermelons, grapes and coconuts are available here and offer a great refreshment! The fruit grows here and is freshly sliced by the sellers!

The mixture of activity and relaxation is particularly good for me here! Starting the day with climbing or yoga is great and gives me a positive energy for the rest of the day! But also acro-yoga classes, slack lining or bike tours bring momentum to the day!

Hampi is a meeting place for travellers and climbers worldwide and thats creates an incredibly good energy! We met great people here with whom we sat at night between the boulders at the campfire, did yoga together or were climbing!

If you are not into sports or need some rest, you simply visit a jewelry shop and learn to weave your own bracelet or end the evening with a movie in a cozy restaurant!

In Hampi you can just enjoy and it is worth visiting the small village in the heart of Karnataka!
