Self-made Muesli Bars for outdoor tours

They should not be too dry, after all, they have to be chewed during the activity. Of course, they should also be tasty. Good healthy ingredients that provide energy quickly, are easily available and not too expensive. Oh, yes: They should not require backing, since I do not have an oven.

After one or two failed attempts, I finally got the perfect muesli bar.

In this attempt, the latch became too dry and crumbled

Here is the recipe:

  • 180 g oatmeal
  • 2-3 tablespoon ground almonds
  • 75 g of mixed and crushed ingredients of choice (I’ve used chopped cashew nuts, raisins, chia seeds, crushed dates, chocolate and sesame seeds, but you can be creative. Also  coconut and all kinds of nuts certainly fit well.
The nuts must be crushed
Everything in the mixer

— Mix all ingredients in a bowl together

  • 5 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter

— Slowly heat these three ingredients in a saucepan Together

melted honey, coconut oil and peanut butter

Now add the liquid substance to the bowl with the oatmeal and nuts and mix well.

Place the mixture on a foiled baking sheet and roll it out to the requires thickness

Muesli Bar mass

Now let it harden in the fridge and cut it into bar-friendly moulds later. The bars are kept fresh in the fridge for a good two weeks.

Cut into bars, pack and cool

Ps. They also taste good as a snack 🙂
