Program
Day 1 Departure from abroad and arrival in Delhi, India
Transfer from the airport to our hotel (overnight stay at the hotel -/-/-)
Day 2 Visit of temple and NGO in Delhi
Today will be a very special day. In the morning we visit the non-profit organization “Chetna”, which takes care of street children. We will interact with the children, hold a yoga class together, and then have a happy lunch with the children. In the afternoon we will visit the Iskon Temple to participate in the magical Arti (fire ceremony). (Overnight stay at Hotel B/L/-)
Day 3 Amritsar and visit of the Golden Temple
Early morning flight to Amritsar (1 hour). We check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at the Golden Temple, where we participate in the ceremony, take our meals and help in the kitchen with Karma Yoga. (Overnight stay at Hotel B/L/D)
Day 4 to 6 Mcleod Ganj
We take a 5-hour minibus transfer to the Himalayas. Here, at 1800 m, lies the beautiful Tibetan settlement Mcleod Ganj. The Dalai Lama lives here with a community of Tibetan refugees. We stay the next night in the Ram Yoga House. In the afternoon and morning we will attend yoga classes in different styles and with different teachers. We also take part in a Buddhist meditation in the morning, visit the Dalai Lama Temple and delve deep into Buddhist philosophy. In the evening of the 6th day we take the night bus for 10 hours to Rishikesh. (1 night in the hotel, 1 night in overnight bus, breakfast included in Amritsar in the morning -/-/-)
Day 7 to 9 Rishikesh
We will spend three days in the yoga capital Rishikesh. The place of pilgrimage is located on the sacred river Ganga, where the river leaves the mountains into the plain.
Here we stay in an ashram (or a hotel next door) and participate in the ashram program with morning meditation, yoga classes, fire ceremony, healthy meals and evening kirtan and satsang.
We will explore Rishikesh and Haridwar (another important sacred place for Hindus), hold some yoga and spiritual workshops, and participate in the famous Arti (ceremony) at the Ganges. (3 nights at Ashram B/L/D)
Day 10-13 Varanasi
Our journey continues with the flight to Varanasi. Here we will spend another 2 days to immerse ourselves deeply in the Hindu rituals and beliefs. During our morning and evening Ganga boat trips we will be able to observe the washing rituals, cremation and fire ceremonies. We will also participate in a public and very Indian yoga class and visit some famous temples. (3 nights in the hotel -/-/-)
On the 13th day something very exciting happens: we will now travel by train like real Indian pilgrims. The train takes 24 hours from Varanasi to Ajmer near Pushkar. But during these 24 hours you can not only rest and process some of the impressions of the last two weeks, but you also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with other travelers and learn more about Indian culture and way of life.
Day 14-15 Pushkar
Pushkar is a very cute little town, but almost as important to Hindus as Varanasi.
Here it is not a sacred river, but the sacred lake Pushkar, which people visit. We will reach the abandoned place in the afternoon of the 14th day and check in in our very quiet little hotel.
In the evening we will go to the city to take a first look at the lake and have a delicious dinner.
The next day we will have a yoga class on the Savitri Temple Hill in the morning, participate in a ceremony with a priest at Pushkar Lake, and visit the only Brahma temple in the world. (2 nights in the hotel, no breakfast on day 14 B/-/-)
Day 16-19 Shri Jasnath Ashram
Before you leave India and return to your real life, use these few days in the tranquility of a traditional Rajasthani ashram with a real guru.
Enjoy the daily routine of yoga classes, meditation, karma yoga, temple ceremonies and satsang with the guru.
There is also plenty of time to relax, enjoy delicious food, exchange ideas with the locals or enjoy some Ayurvedic massages in the wellness centre. (4 nights at Ashram B/L/D)
Day 20 Jodhpur
After a two-hour transfer to Jodhpur with a stop in Osian for a visit of the famous Satia Mata Temple, we have some time to explore the blue city of Jodhpur before boarding our night train to Delhi (overnight stay by train B/-/-)
Day 21 Delhi
For the day you have a hotel room until your flight leaves. We can spend the day on a shopping trip and one last dinner together. Then it’s time to say “Namaste India” (hotel room available -/-/D).
