Pooja’s Journey: From Village Life to Holistic Health Coach

Early Life and Childhood

Pooja is a 30-year-old woman and a holistic health coach. She was born in a poor family in Reckong Peo, a town in the district of Kinnaur, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Her family consisted of her parents and three elder brothers.

Pooja’s father was a contractor, and her mother worked with him and also did farming work in other people’s fields. When Pooja was only two and a half years old, her family moved to Pooh, another large village in Kinnaur, in search of better work opportunities. Her father continued his contracting work, and her mother spent long hours working in the fields to support the family. At that time, her three elder brothers were going to school. When Pooja was very young, she often went to the fields with her mother. Sometimes she would even fall asleep outside their home while waiting for her mother to return home.

School Life and Challenges

When she turned six years old, she started going to school. Because she belonged to a poor family, she did not have a proper school bag. Instead, she used to carry a cloth bag (a shopping bag) to take her books to school.

During her childhood, Pooja was very shy, introverted, dull and not very confident. She was not good at studies, and she did not like her own face. A turning point came after the 6th grade when she started performing better in her studies. Coincidentally, it was also during this time that she received her very first school bag—a small gift that brought immense joy and motivation into her life.

Later, when she was in the 12th class, she received a laptop through a scholarship. Pooja completed her education up to the 12th standard.

Learning Responsibility and Earning Her First Income

As she grew older, she started helping her mother with household work. She also continued going to school and playing with her friends. After completing the 12th class, she did a one-year computer course. Later, from 2015 to 2017, she worked at a chemist’s shop where she earned ₹3000 per month. Though the salary was modest, it represented something far more valuable—her first step toward financial independence.

In 2017, Pooja entered a new chapter of life and got married.

A Spiritual Spark from Childhood

Pooja had spiritual thoughts from a very young age. When she was only six years old, a deep question came into her mind — Who am I? What am I? And why am I here? These questions stayed with her throughout her childhood and became the foundation of her spiritual journey.

From childhood, she felt a natural connection toward spirituality, and this interest grew stronger as she grew older.

She also started keeping religious fasts such as Solah Somwar, Friday fasts, Janmashtami, and Shivratri. On Shivratri, she used to make a small Shiva Lingam at home and perform prayers.

The Beginning of Her Meditation Journey

However, her real spiritual journey started in 2019 when she attended a 7-day Rajyogya meditation course. In this course, she learned the theory of meditation, including the importance of satvik food, the connection between God, the soul, and human life, and the practice of meditation.

Deepening Her Practice and Embracing Motherhood

In 2020, Pooja travelled to Mount Abu, Rajasthan, to deepen her understanding of meditation and spiritual discipline. The experience taught her the value of a balanced daily routine and conscious living.

That same year, she became pregnant, and in 2021 she welcomed her only son, Prishu, into the world.

Even after becoming a mother, Pooja continued her meditation journey. In 2022, she completed an online Ragy Healing Meditation Course, further expanding her understanding of holistic well-being and healing.

The Life-Changing Vipassana Experience

In 2024, she attended a 10-day Vipassana meditation course in Dehradun. Vipassana is a silent meditation practice. During this course, participants are not allowed to talk, make eye contact, or eat after 6 PM until the next day. There is only one main meal in the day, and for old students, sometimes there is no evening meal.

The daily routine in the Vipassana centre was very disciplined:

  • 4:00 AM – Wake up and meditation
  • 6:30 – 8:30 AM – Breakfast and meditation
  • 11:00 – 12:00 PM – Lunch
  • 12:00 – 1:00 PM – Rest
  • 1:00 – 5:00 PM – Meditation
  • 5:00 – 6:00 PM – Tea or lemon water, then meditation
  • 8:00 – 9:00 PM – Discourse (spiritual lecture)
  • 9:00 PM – Sleep

This was a very tough course, but Pooja completed it twice, in 2024 and again in 2025.

Becoming a Holistic Health Coach

In August 2024, Pooja also completed an online Health Coaching course from Shivdhyana Sanstha. In this course, she learned how to balance the six pillars of health:

1. What we eat

2. How we eat

3. Activity and Exercise

4. Environment

5. Sleep

6. Emotions

The course focused on improving overall lifestyle and well-being. It was a three-month program, and Pooja invested ₹10,000 to complete it.

Creating Impact Through Healing and Coaching

Today, Pooja is working as a Holistic Health Coach. Through her coaching, she helps people improve their lifestyle and supports their healing journey through meditation and holistic wellness practices. She guides individuals in creating healthier habits and achieving better physical, mental, and emotional well-being. And now Pooja is also working for Chalo-Reisen as a yoga teacher, helping people improve their well-being through yoga and mindfulness.

Conclusion

Today, Pooja continues to inspire others through her commitment to holistic health, meditation, and conscious living—proving that true success lies not only in personal achievement but also in helping others heal, grow, and thrive. Her story shows that even someone from a simple and humble background can grow, learn, and create a meaningful life through dedication, spirituality, and self-development.
