Overview

The tour is ideal for real mountain bikers who love the challenge of pure “Off-Road”! A three-day tour that starts and ends in Manali. We enjoy not only the great ride, but also the magnificent views of the Kullu and Parvati valley!

Program

Day 1 Manali to Naggar (22 km) to Jana (12 km) (34 km)

We follow the road of Manali on the right side of the river Beas. We cross many small villages, rice fields and apple orchards until we reach Naggar. In the 16th century, the village was the capital of Kullu. The castle, now a so-called “Heritage Hotel”, is the only proof of Naggar’s glorious past. Here in Naggar is also the former house of the famous Russian artist Nicholas Röhrrich. Now it’s a beautiful museum.

While the way to Naggar only goes downhill, the 12 km uphill lead to Jana, our next destination. Jana is still one of the oldest villages in the Kullu Valley. Here, at a small waterfall, we have the opportunity to taste still real traditional food of the region while enjoying the view down of the Kullu Valley. (Overnight in the tent/hut) -/L/D

Day 2 Jana to Bijli Mahadev Temple (2460 m) 25 km off road

Today the true mountain biking begins, because from here the path is no longer paved. We use our skills as we ride over debris and mud. We always have a fascinating view of the surroundings.

First it goes 15 km uphill, a lot of endurance is required! But after that we enjoy the descent: 10 km to the famous Bijli Mahadev temple. This temple is an unusual temple. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the thunderstorm god, and an iron post rafts out of the temple, in which lightning strikes regularly during thunderstorms. (Overnight in a tent) B/L/D

Day 3 Bijli Mahadev to Kais (33 km) via Maftikochar (jeep slope), then back to Manali by jeep

For 15 km we take the same way back, 10 of them uphill. But after this 10 km it goes 13 km downhill to Kais. There is a famous Buddhist monastery to visit. After that, we enjoy the ride back to Manali by jeep. The route back to Manali can also be taken by mountain bike! B/L/-

Dangers

On this tour we are constantly in the mountains at an altitude between 2000 and 4500 meters.

Even if we work with trained mountain guides and take all measures on our mountain tours to prevent emergencies, you can never rule out dangers in the mountains. Now and then there can be weather changes, landslides (especially during the monsoon season) or accidents and you should always be aware of this. Helmets are mandatory on this tour!

Due to climatic conditions or organisational reasons, we reserve the right to change the tours .  Your safety is our priority.
